We are currently seeking a General Manager to work at an upscale corporate fitness center located in Des Moines, IA.

Requirements

The position will begin in March 2010, and the shift days and hours are TBD. The existing fitness center is approximately 5,000 6,000 square feet, but the position will transition to a newly constructed 25,000 square foot center within a few months.

A General Manager at Plus One manages and directs all operations, staffing, and marketing aspects of the Fitness Center. He/she acts as a direct liaison between Plus One and the Clients supervising department. Assume the key responsibility/assist the Client Coordinator in the marketing, promotion, planning, and staffing all programs. Although the General Manager will spend less time on the gym floor than the rest of the professional staff, he or she will maintain a high profile with both staff and members.

A bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or a related field with a minimum of five years experience in the fitness field and at least three in management. Current CPR and First Aid certifications plus one or more certifications from the following organizations are required, ACSM, ACE or NSCA. A thorough knowledge of health, fitness, exercise principles, exercise testing and evaluation, and fitness programming. A thorough knowledge of staff management, budgeting, sales and customer service.
